I’ve talked about the ‘Three Questions’ before. They’re the questions you ask to determine if you have a star player in a role. Today I want you to apply them to yourself:
- Given all your boss knows about you, would you be enthusiastically rehired?
- If you were to quit today, how would your boss feel? Devastated? Relieved? Overjoyed?
- Do you fully take away your boss’s stress in your role? Or do they have to check and re-check to make sure you’ve done things right?
People who are stars get an emphatic YES to numbers 1 and 3, and a ‘devastated’ to number 2.
How would you score? The secret to career success is not knowing the right people or being able to write a great resume, but in being amazing at what you do. If you’re amazing others will figure it out, and you’ll be in demand everywhere. If you’re not amazing, no one will much want you
